how Kinetic Home Phone internet service works

Kinetic Home Phone (VoIP) is today’s answer to yesterday’s landline. Our service works much like a typical home phone* and is delivered over the Internet, so it works in unison with our fast, reliable connection. Use your current home phone number** or choose a new one.

With our customizable and dependable internet phone lines, you make and receive calls on your terms.

*911 IN AN EMERGENCY. Voice Services provided via an internet connection (e.g., voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), Centrex, and private branch exchange), require both electrical power and broadband function. The Services will not function if power is lost, if there is a disruption to the broadband connection, if the network is congested, or if your account has been suspended. In such instances You or anyone using Your Services will not be able to place or receive calls including calls to emergency 911 services and that communications between a home security system and home security monitoring service will not function. Kinetic recommends you maintain alternative means of accessing 911 Services and that you purchase a battery backup for use with your Services during power outages.

**Transfers of existing telephone number not always available, and your new telephone number may not be a local number. Service is subject to our Kinetic Voice Subscription Agreement and Reasonable Use Policy. Service (including 911 / emergency services) will not function during periods of Internet service outage. Additional voice adapter equipment is required. Call or go online to check service availability for your location.

home phone internet service FAQs

  • Yes. Our Kinetic Voice plan offers 14 essential features, including unlimited nationwide calling, caller ID and enhanced voicemail for $50/mo, no internet plan necessary. Call +1-855-954-2293 for more information, availability, or to order.

  • A digital home phone, also known as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), uses your internet connection to make and receive calls instead of traditional copper phone lines. With a digital home phone, you get clear audio, essential features like voicemail and caller ID, and often more affordable rates—all while keeping the familiarity of a landline phone setup.

  • No. Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, is communication technology that makes phone calls possible over an internet connection. However, our service functions much like a typical home phone while delivering additional features and benefits.

  • Our voice service, when bundled with Internet, offers caller ID deluxe, 3-way calling, selective call acceptance, enhanced call waiting, speed calling, call selector, caller ID on call waiting, call forwarding (and preferred), call return, spam call alert, anonymous call rejection, repeat dial, and selective call rejection.

  • Digital phone service offers clear call quality, reliable connectivity, and useful features like call waiting, voicemail, and caller ID—all powered through your internet. It's also cost-effective and can be bundled with your internet service for added convenience. Since it's internet-based, it's ideal for those looking to streamline services without sacrificing reliability.

  • If you value consistent call quality, emergency access, and a backup communication method, keeping a landline—especially a digital one—can be worth it. Many households still rely on home phones for peace of mind, especially in rural areas or during power outages when cell service may be spotty. Internet landlines offer a modern spin on a classic, dependable tool.
