building a fiber future

what to expect during the construction process

1. before we begin
Before we begin, we secure required permits and permissions from local and state authorities to ensure work is safe, legal, and coordinated. Local utility companies will place flags and temporary paint to mark utilities. To help ensure public safety, it’s important to leave all markers in place. Our Kinetic team will do a final check to help ensure construction is ready to begin.

2. getting started
Our construction crews will begin accessing utility easements on homeowners’ properties and rights-of-way to prepare for fiber installation. We will install fiber by hanging lines on poles or placing them underground, following local guidelines and safety standards. We take care to minimize impact, protect existing infrastructure, and keep work zones organized.

3. construction phase
In most neighborhoods, construction takes around 4 weeks. Actual timelines can shift due to utility marking schedules, unexpected site conditions, and weather. Some restoration work may continue shortly afterward to repair disturbed areas such as lawns or sidewalks. Our commitment is to minimize any inconvenience for you and your neighbors while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

4. final steps to get you connected
Be on the lookout for our local Kinetic team, who will answer any questions and offer special promotions to help you connect your home to newly available Kinetic Fiber Internet.

We are installing fiber optic lines to bring high speed internet to your community. Our crews work in areas set aside by law for utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and communications lines.
Utility easements and public rights‑of‑way are legally designated areas where utility companies (internet, phone, gas, water, and electric) are allowed to work and maintain equipment. They are often located along your front, side, or rear property boundaries. It is a right granted to providers of utilities to ensure that all homes in a community have safe and secure access to power, water, gas, and communications.
Yes. Whether we are working in a public right of way or a utility easement, our presence is authorized by law and approved by the city, municipality, or county.
No. Please leave all flags and markings in place until work is complete. They ensure safe excavation around existing utilities. Also, please ask your landscapers to leave the flags in place. Flag Color Key: White: Proposed excavation Pink: Temporary survey markings Red: Electric power lines, cable, conduit, and lighting cables Yellow: Gas, oil, steam, petroleum, or gaseous materials Orange: Communication, alarm or signal lines, cables or conduit Blue: Potable water Purple: Reclaimed water, irrigation and slurry lines Green: Sewer and drain lines
Our construction crews do not have access to records of private systems. We recommend marking or notifying crews about private lines before work begins to avoid accidental damage. Ahead of our scheduled work in your area, please mark any private utilities such as: • Irrigation/sprinkler lines and heads • Invisible pet fence wiring • Landscape lighting and low voltage cables • Private electric/gas/water lines to sheds, pools, or outbuildings • Septic components and drain lines Use the standard utility colors: Red: Electric; Yellow: Gas/Propane; Orange: Communications/Low voltage; Blue: Water; Green: Sewer/Drain; Purple: Reclaimed water; White: Proposed work area. Place flags or paint along each line’s path, marking both ends and at least every 5 to 10 feet, plus at turns. Mark valve boxes, shutoffs, and sprinkler heads. If you know approximate depths, please note them on the flag/paint.
Yes. Our goal is to leave every property just as we found it. Crews take care to restore the appearance of yards, sidewalks, and other areas after construction is finished. Let us know about any issues or concerns by using the contact form or calling (855) 257-1174.
Yes. Kinetic provides advance written notice to local HOAs before construction begins. Even in private neighborhoods, utility easements and rights of way exist to ensure essential services can reach every home.
