Fast Forward: Lexington, KY. A Week of Free Community Events

Lexington, we've got something to celebrate, and we'd love to do it with you.

Over the past year, we've added more than 11,000 new fiber locations across Lexington, KY, growing our network here by about 31%. Nearly 47,000 Lexington homes now have access to Kinetic fiber, and a milestone like this deserves more than a number on a slide.

So a celebration is in order. From Oct. 12 through Oct. 18, we're throwing Fast Forward Lexington, a week of free events across the community to celebrate what makes this town such a special place. Here's where you'll find us.

Movie night at Gatton Park

The big one lands on Friday, Oct. 16. Kinetic is presenting a free movie night at Gatton Park featuring Toy Story® 5. Festivities start at 6 p.m., and the movie begins at 7:30. Tickets are free but limited, so grab yours now! This family friendly event will include a DJ, crafts, and interactive fun.

Gatton Park is a special spot for us. Kinetic provides the free Wi-Fi that covers the park grounds, so it felt like the perfect place for our biggest event of the week. Bring the whole family for a night of movie magic.

What else is happening during Fast Forward week?

There's something on the calendar almost every day, so pick your favorites or come to all of them.

  • Monday, Oct. 12: Free ice cream at Crank & Boom. We're kicking off the week with an evening treat at Crank & Boom Craft Ice Cream's Clays Mill location. From 5 to 7 p.m., the first 80 guests get a free scoop on us.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 13: Tech workshop for veterans. From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Kenwick Community Center, we're hosting a free, hands-on course on technology, getting more from your internet, and staying safe online, built for Lexington veterans. Kenwick is home to Veterans' Unity Point, a local space where veterans connect with resources, support, and one another.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 14: University of Kentucky CyberCon. UK's annual CyberCon makes cybersecurity education accessible via expert presentations, panel discussions, and networking for students, researchers, and professionals. It runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Singletary Center, 405 Rose St. Kinetic Business's Robert Chase, director of sales engineering, will speak on a panel, and you can find our team at the Kinetic table all day. Registration is free and open to the University community.

  • Thursday, Oct. 15: Giving back at God's Pantry. Our team is spending the afternoon at God's Pantry Food Bank, 817 Winchester Road, Suite 150, from 1 to 3 p.m., packing food boxes and organizing donations. God's Pantry works to feed neighbors across Central and Eastern Kentucky, and we're glad to lend a hand. Come on out and volunteer with us.

  • Friday, Oct. 16: Lunch at Katie's Happy Hot Dogs. Come hungry to 185 Southland Drive from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first 50 customers get a free meal, courtesy of Kinetic. Then stick around town, because the fun at Gatton Park kicks off at 6.

  • Sunday, Oct. 18: Bark Bash at Gatton Park. We're closing out the week with the Lexington Humane Society at Bark Bash, its annual fall festival and Critter Costume Contest. It runs from 1 to 5 p.m., it's free to attend, and it comes with food, games, local vendors, and plenty of puppies. Bring your four-legged family members, and stop by the Kinetic booth for family fun and free swag.

Why we're celebrating

Nearly 47,000 homes passed is a big number. But when it comes down to it, what that number really means is that more people in Lexington can work from home without their connection giving out, see a doctor virtually, keep a small business running, and get through movie night without buffering.

That's what fiber internet is built for. And we'll keep adding fiber locations across Lexington for years to come.

But we also just like an excuse to show up and meet our neighbors. Lexington is home for a lot of the people who work here, and we’re thrilled to hang out with the community all week long. Come find us, bring the kids, and maybe even the dog.
